Open Dialogue on the Future of Belarus’s Energy Sector Held at BrSTU

Brest State Technical University hosted a meeting between students specializing in "Heat and Gas Supply, Ventilation, and Air Quality Protection" and Dmitry Vasilyevich Shavlovsky, General Director of the unitary enterprise "Brestoblgaz." Held under the theme "Achievements of the Belarusian Energy Sector Over 25 Years," the event served as a key platform for an open dialogue regarding the industry's development and the professional growth of future engineers.

The meeting brought together those currently ensuring the region's energy security and those who will be tasked with addressing these challenges in the future. The discussion reviewed the extensive work accomplished by the country's energy sector over the past quarter-century. Dmitry Vasilyevich outlined key areas of development in gas supply and thermal energy, infrastructure modernization, the implementation of modern digitalization technologies, and prospects for further improving essential utility systems.

A central topic of the dialogue was workforce training. Special attention was paid to issues of concern to students on the threshold of their professional careers: employment, career advancement, and opportunities for young specialists to realize their potential within the energy sector.

Dmitry Vasilyevich noted that the modern labor market demands not only deep theoretical knowledge but also practical skills from graduates. He emphasized the company's interest in recruiting active, proactive, and responsible young people who are eager to learn. Students were reminded of the importance of lifelong learning, the study of related disciplines, and proficiency in modern software suites for engineering network design.

The meeting took the form of a lively discussion. Future heat and gas supply specialists asked questions about the specifics of emergency dispatch service operations, the nuances of operating modern high-efficiency equipment, workplace safety standards, and the environmental aspects of air quality protection.
