How to Avoid Becoming a Victim of Cybercrime?

As part of the "Freshman Month" events, first-year students from the Faculty of Engineering Systems and Ecology and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering met with law enforcement officers.

The speakers included Yevgeny Vladimirovich Samuskevich, Lieutenant Colonel of the Police and Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Department of the Brest District Executive Committee (responsible for ideological work and personnel), and Artyom Sergeyevich Galalyuk, Police Lieutenant and operative with the Cybercrime Counteraction Unit.

The meeting focused on the topic: "How to avoid becoming a victim of cybercrime."

Students learned about the most common types of online fraud, ways to protect personal data, and rules for safe online behavior. Particular attention was paid to schemes young people might encounter in daily life, such as phishing messages and websites, fraudulent phone calls, and attempts to gain access to banking details.

Such meetings help first-year students remain vigilant and informed when using digital services and social media.
